I have loved denim since I was in grade school. You know, that crunch under your knees, marks on your waist, accented with ripped knees from falling when "trying to look cool at a punk show when my high school crush's band played" jeans. (Now my full "era of geekdum" aka "my high school experience" is out of the bag.)
Over the last few months, I have started longing for my old, crusty Levi's that I had found in my beloved neighborhood thrift store. But what made them so great? What is the fit? Was it that crisp 100% cotton denim that only the outdoors and summer humidity could break in? Did my obsession start when I was forced to watch The Ousiders for an English class, or was it drilled into my brain by my early on-set obsession with everything Chloe Sevigny. I then realized the only thing left to do was to search for that perfect pair of vintage denim, and try to uncover what makes that blue, second skin so great.
Can't wait to share more about my vintage denim vision quest for the perfect pair of jeans. In the meantime, check out Pt.1, Levi's 501.
